We were at a friend's house today, and their young boy showed off what he called his 'dinosaur eggs'. The broken one resembles the bigger one from the outside, but they broke it open to see the inside. The white stone rattles inside when shaken.
I have not heard if Belize has had dinosaurs, but I know there have been mastodons living here. Since I cannot really identify these rocks, I was hoping someone would venture forth and say if they have seen something similar, or if there could be a chance that these could be fossils of some sort. Perhaps its just a geode, but it seems very hard on the outside.
Don't be shy to leave your thoughts about this one!
These are silicified carbonates/chert nodules. Sometimes shell fossils are still recognizable in what is now chert.....Origin is a bit mysterious. Also, very enigmatic quartz pebbles (totally transparent quartz) can also be found from Iguana Creek to Billy White.....Jean H. Cornec
