Porous Rock

A friend had this rock that looked like a fossil of some sort. My guess was it is limestone because it was not heavy and chipped easily. To me it resembled a tree trunk but other than that I had never seen anything like it and it was a new one to me.

Found in northern Belize

  1. Intriguing since it is light weight, usually not the case for petrified wood or fossilized coral.
    Got to see it!

    1. Thanks for commenting, Jean. (my brother-in-law Henry has mentioned you.) The problem is this is not my rock, but it is in Spanish Lookout so if you are interested I can point you to the owner.

    2. Jean, upon further research it does look like it could actually be fossilized coral. I am trying to get my hands on one of these pieces myself. Will update if I do.
