Mosses

By now I have quite a selection of moss or plume agates of different color. Yellow with red above, and pink with black below.

The one on the left is a sliver from the one shown above.

Light grey or blue with specks of white and yellow. Love it!

This was my first moss I found. Since then I have accumulated almost one big coffee container full of small moss agates but several big rocks as well.

More light blue/grey agates

Previously I showed some photos of blue stones but this camera shows truer color. I always feel like the blue is a very tricky color to capture on camera. It seems to perform differently in different parts of the day. All these blues have been found in the last few months.

Unusual and fun!

Here are two unique rocks that came with stands attached. Actually only the bigger one can stand.  I am very curious what the blue one would reveal as these blueish rocks usually are translucent agate of some color. So if it is ever possible for me I would like to have it polished.

And just for kicks, a geode nest with white quartz eggs.

Colorful Moss Agates

By now we have quite a selection of these moss agates if that is what they are called. this color brown is most common, but below is a gorgeous red one.

I am waiting to throw this one in the tumbler. that might be a possibility in hte near future, as I have been purchasing one last week. I cant wait to show you what my tumbled rocks will look like! Keep visiting.

This was part of a massive 15 lb rock that I found at our favorite spot. I had quite a time carrying it barefoot through sinking sand but I was determined to bring it home with me. It is quite the find, except that it seems to have lots of weak crumbly white limestone in it. But I believe I could successfully tumble lots of small chunks.

Fossils

I have no clue what this could have been but it was given to me by a friendly neighbor boy who knew I liked rocks. I was happy to receive it!

This was a very recent find and a first of its kind, although I saw a similar fossil not too long ago.

Shell fossils are very common. it is interesting to note how the different types of rocks preserve the fossils differently.
This one is very intact. This rock smells toxic but I do not know what type it is.

This one also has me puzzled but it seems like an obvious small creature fossil.

Rockin Root

When rock hunting it is quite exciting to find the unusual. this is a root with a rock grown into it. It is stuck quite solidly and sticks out on both sides of the root.
