Moss Agate

While on my walk I spotted this perfect moss agate. I had to dig a little to get it out of the compacted road but it was worthwhile. I can imagine how beautiful it would be cut and polished.

Agate is extremely abundant around here.

Welcome to my new blog! This is where I plan to share with you my ever growing rock collection. I realize there is next to nothing about rocks in Belize online, so it is my hope that this will be a small informational source, even if only very amateur.

I own no professional rock tools, although I hope to someday! For now I have a shovel, magnifying glass and a book to help me identify simple rocks, and when I want to have them cut, I take them to a friend who does it for a small fee.

Stay tuned; there is lots of exciting and fun stuff ahead of us on this journey as we explore together what this country has to offer from the geological perspective!
